Community Overview

Really LIVE in Austin! Ride singletrack in the morning, eat a Mexico City-grade corn tamale for lunch, take a cool dip in Barton Springs, and then actually go out at night and catch the latest indie flicks and bands downtown or at the South by Southwest (SXSW) or Austin City Limits (ACL) festivals.

The Texas capital is unbeatable! Austin has incredible diversity, and not just in the terrain that goes from rolling green hills, lush forests, and clear lakes to the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, but in its culture, as well.

"There's no place that combines so much culture and so much outdoor activity," says Hill Abell, owner of Austin's Bicycle Sport Shop.

Moving here is a popular thing to do these days; the city is one of the fastest growing in the United States, but so far, Austin isn't crammed or financially out of reach. The cost of living is lower than it is in nearly every other comparably sized metro area in the nation, jobs are plentiful (especially in high tech and education), and homes are affordable.

Come and live the good life in the heart of Texas!

Founded in 1970 to serve college students and part-time workers, today our health center meets the primary healthcare needs for nearly 17,000 patients. From the beginning we have been dedicated to improving the health of Central Texas families and individuals. The clinic is a unique and tested model for medical care, a true safety net for Central Texas uninsured and medically underserved. Our health center offers a greater variety of health and wellness services than any other not-for-profit clinic in Austin, including cooking classes, early learning, parenting education, acupuncture and medical-legal advocacy. These services and programs are designed to complement our treatment for specific ailments and chronic diseases with support for each person as a whole.
