St. Mary's - the Most Comprehensive Pediatric Trauma Program in the Region
We are seeking a board certified/board eligible pediatric surgeon to serve as Pediatric Trauma Medical Director for the St. Mary’s Adult and Pediatric Level II Trauma Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Our ideal candidate would be a pediatric surgeon with interest in general surgery as well as covering trauma call for the adult trauma population as well.
St. Mary's is the first and only American College of Surgeons-Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT) verified Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and one of only four pediatric trauma centers in the state of Indiana. We collaborate with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, and their medical staff, to help ensure we're providing the best care possible.
The ACS-COT verification designates St. Mary's as the most comprehensive pediatric trauma program in the region.
Thanks to the resources committed to pediatric trauma care, 94% of injured children treated at St. Mary's received all of their care locally at our facility, with referral back to their home community for continued follow up care.
Excellent reasons to practice in Indiana
- With malpractice premiums becoming intolerable in many states, Indiana implemented malpractice reform over 20 years ago and is considered one of the friendliest in the nation for physicians, ranking in the top five of all states
- Low physician density in relation to population
- Payor markets are competitive with relatively high reimbursement rates
- The Indiana State Medical Association, which represents 5,000 of the state’s 8,000 physicians, helps its membership to be more influential in state politics, making it the envy of states experiencing malpractice crises
