Carilion Clinic is seeking additional Pulmonary/ Critical Care physicians for its growing department of Pulmonary/Critical Care/Environmental and Sleep Medicine. The ideal candidate will have a track record demonstrating her/his interest in academic and research medicine with a desire to be part of our Fellowship and Medical School Faculty.
This is a clinical/academic position with responsibilities to cover our outpatient pulmonary clinics and also our ICU services as well as inpatient pulmonary consults. Roanoke Memorial Hospital is a tertiary referral center where you will have a varied array of interesting pathology. The department is heavily involved in teaching, and all our physicians have appointments through the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Our ACGME accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship has a total of 12 fellows who are involved in all our service lines.
Our faculty is composed of knowledgeable physicians from varied backgrounds, making for a dynamic and innovative group of doctors that collaborate closely in many areas. We provide advanced care including for end stage emphysema, ILD, pulmonary hypertension and interventional pulmonology. Additionally, we have a long standing tradition of using bedside ultrasonography and work collaboratively with cardiology and other services lines to provide modern and comprehensive up to date care to our patients. Finally, we also run the area's largest network of accredited Sleep Centers.
Sophisticated resources include state-of -the-art ICU equipment with 24/7 available bedside ultrasonography, radial and convex EBUS, navigational bronchoscopy and rigid bronchoscopy. With over 700 + acute-care beds, ours is the second largest hospital in Virginia. Additionally, we have an advanced system wide EMR with also easy access to radiological images and that allows us to connect with other institutions, as well. An adjacent modern and very large outpatient clinic provides an excellent work environment, housing also one of our comprehensive pulmonary function testing facilities, pulmonary rehabilitation and imaging centers.
