Carilion Children's is recruiting a third Pediatric Cardiologist for Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia which serves as the tertiary referral center southwestern Virginia and southern West Virginia. Carilion Children's provides a full range of pediatric services including Level 1 Trauma Pediatric ER, but excluding ECMO, open heart and transplants. The hospital includes an 8-bed PICU, a 24-bed inpatient unit and a 60-bed NICU/intermediate nursing. It is part of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, an 763-bed teaching/tertiary, Level 1 trauma center, that serves nearly 1 million Virginians.
Join a well established and respected practice with a total of three other pediatric cardiologists providing General Pediatric Cardiology and Fetal Cardiology outpatient care along with inpatient care and consultation for the Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care Service. These services are supported by the Pediatric Hospitalists, Pediatric Intensivists, and Neonatology Service. The cardiology service also provides support to Carilion Children's Pediatric Emergency Department and outside emergency departments who require guidance when a fetus, infant, child or adolescent with congenital or acquired heart disease needs emergency care. On-call coverage is 1:3 with 24 hour on-call echo services provided. Candidates must be ABMS/AOA Board Certified in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Pediatric Cardiology. Experience in fetal imaging is desired. Candidates must also possess interest and enthusiasm for clinical service and teaching pediatric residents and medical students. Research activity is encouraged and supported at the new Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine & Research Institute, which graduated its inaugural class of doctoral students in 2010.
