The Maine Medical Center (MMC) and MaineHealth (MH) Cardiovascular Institute are seeking an outstanding clinician-educator to serve as Director of Education.  The Cardiovascular Institute is comprised of Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and Vascular Surgery at MMC, the flagship hospital of MH.  MMC is located in Portland, Maine and is the largest provider of cardiovascular care in Northern New England.

The Cardiovascular Institute has a strong history of commitment to continuous improvement in clinical quality, with active participation in the Northern New England Cardiovascular Disease Study Group since its inception.  In addition to clinical care the Cardiology Division provides education and training in cardiovascular medicine for the MMC Cardiology Fellowship and Internal Medicine Residency trainees, as well as for the ‘Maine Track’ Tufts University Medical Students.  The Division also has a robust and growing clinical and translational research program in conjunction with the MMC Research Institute.

The successful candidate will be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and be recognized as an outstanding physician and educator.  This individual will be an active member of the MH Adult Cardiology practice group.  The Director of Education will serve as the Cardiology Fellowship Program Director, with a reporting relationship to Chief of the Department as well as the MMC Director of Graduate Medical Education.  The Director of Education will oversee cardiovascular disease educational activities for medical students and internal medical residents.  In addition, the Director will work collaboratively with leadership in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Pediatric Cardiology to develop continuing medical education programs that enable faculty development in line with growth of the Cardiac Service line’s vision to provide best-in-class patient centered care across the MH network.

Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.  The area provides four season recreational opportunities, such as skiing, hiking, sailing, and miles of beautiful beaches.  Just two hours north of Boston, this is an exceptionally diverse and vibrant community.
