The Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at Maine Medical Center is seeking an experienced Clinician Educator to serve as Residency Program Director.

Maine Medical Center (MMC) has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary hospital and a Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and an integral part of the Tufts University Medical School.  Maine Medical Center supports over 200 residents and fellows in 12 residency programs and 8 fellowship programs approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The mission of the MMC Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program is to provide scientific and humanistic training of the highest quality in preparing physicians for the practice of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, whether in primary care, subspecialty practice, hospital medicine or academic medicine.

Candidates must have demonstrated ability as a clinician, medical educator, and administrator and have an understanding of and commitment to internal medicine and pediatric education.  The Program Director will ensure that residents are properly supervised in carrying out their patient care responsibilities and develop and maintain an effective curriculum that complies with all elements of the Next Accreditation System including ACGME core competencies, milestones and Clinical Learning Environment Reviews.  The Director will guide strategic planning for the ongoing growth and development of the residency program, in cooperation with the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine and Maine Medical Center, and act as a liaison between the residency program and the outpatient teaching sites.

The Residency Program Director will be the faculty member responsible for the operation of the Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program with assistance from the Chairs of Medicine and Pediatrics, Chief Residents, and the Residency Program Coordinator.  Candidates must be certified in Internal Medicine by the ABIM and Pediatrics by the ABP or possess specialty qualifications acceptable to the Residency Review Committee.
