 Job Description

Experience the Maine attraction.  We are seeking a full- or part-time BC/BE emergency medicine physician interested in practicing quality medicine in scenic  Norway, Maine, approximately one hour from Portland, ME in the Oxford Hills region.  Norway is an affordable community in the heart of a four-season recreational area, surrounded by more than ten lakes and ponds, which make it a haven for boating, swimming, fishing, and  ice skating.  The nearby mountains provide hiking with vista views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range.  Family ski resorts, including Sunday River, are less than an hour away.

The Emergency Department has a dedicated Sono-Site X-Porte ultra sound and advanced airway equipment, on site CAT and MRI equipment, and individual treatment and exam rooms to enhance patient privacy.  The PACE Paramedic Service is a department of the hospital and is the only paramedic-licensed service in Oxford County.  The department maintains 24-hours per day, 7 days per week coverage, offering a minimum of two paramedics and two emergency medical technicians (EMTs).  The emergency department sees a mix of patients including trauma (there are two nearby ski resorts, including Sunday River), general medical, geriatric, and pediatric (15%).

Our hospital, Stephens Memorial (a member of MaineHealth, the premier healthcare system in Maine, which includes Maine Medical Center) is a teaching site for the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine rural medicine clerkship program.   We are a 25-bed critical access hospital, that has been recognized by the Leapfrog Group as one of the top rural hospitals in the nation three times in the last six years - 2009, 2013, and 2014 as delivering the best quality care while attaining the highest levels of efficiency.

Come be part of our dynamic and growing team of eight full-time ED physicians.  Experience the warmth of a small town combined with a medical community working closely with their colleagues throughout the MaineHealth system to ensure the healthcare needs of patients are delivered with the highest level of quality.

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits, to include student loan repayment and electronic medical records.
