 Job Description

In Corpus Christi, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking an experienced full-time Board Certified Family Medicine with/without OB or Internal Medicine Physician to provide direct medical care to patients in a warm and friendly community health care setting and serve as the Chief Medical Officer.

Job Overview:

  • Maintains clinical expertise and competency as well as demonstrates thorough knowledge of procedures to deliver quality primary health care.
  • Provides clinic sessions, as scheduled, in direct patient care at clinic site, including extended hours clinics
  • Provides services during at least 36 hours per week in clinic, negotiated in accordance with how many administrative hours are required. Provides a minimum of accordance with how many administrative hours are required. Provides a minimum of 4,200 primary care encounters for the contract year. Serves in an administrative capacity approximatel 4 hours per week. The total number of encounters will be contingent upon the negotiated administrative time.
  • Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician’s panel, on an in-patient and out-patient basis (as per individual employment agreements); prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Follows appropriate standards of care for each patient.
  • Refers clients for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x-ray and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient’s management and care. Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately.
  • Maintains a problem oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the centers established Health Information Management policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that patient and family/significant others are educated about diagnosis and the plan of care. Acts as a resource for facilitating communication when necessary.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives such as Optimizing Comprehensive Clinical Care, etc.
  • Designs, develops, and implements appropriate Medical Department policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards. 

 Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years clinical experience
  • Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Board certified in Internal or Family Medicine
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in an appropriate medical specialty
  • Current unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board to practice as a physician in the State of Texas
  • Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty
  • Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and other such certificates to legally operate as a practitioner in the State of Texas
  • Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification

Administrative, management, CPI and budget development experience preferred

Ability to be clinically fluent in Spanish preferred

Practice Description :

We are the primary health care center- providing affordable, quality health care services.  Our center offers affordable primary care and pediatric programs that include medical services, a sliding fee scale based on family size and income, and prescription assistance.

We accept all types of Medicaid, Medicare, and several private insurance plans.  For those patients without health insurance coverage, we offer a sliding fee scale based on Federally established family size and income guidelines to determine the cost of services provided.  Patients without health insurance coverage must provide proof of income and photo identification.

Located in Corpus Christi, Texas we have received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for Patient Centered Medical Home Level 3. The organization provides Primary, Pediatric health care and dental services.
