 Job Description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group (LLUFMG) invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) is a faith-based academic medical complex comprised of 8 health science schools, including the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, 6 hospitals and a large medical group (LLUFMG) with over 900 physicians. The affiliated institutions of LLUH serve as the primary tertiary medical facility for Southern California’s Inland Empire area, with a surrounding population over 4 million, and the only Level 1 trauma center serving a four county area that covers approximately 25% of the state. LLUH has long been a leader in integrating a faith-based approach to whole person health care. As a Christian organization, our mission is to follow the healing and teaching ministry of Jesus Christ 'to make man whole.' Together, we strive for Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness.

The recruitment of the Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery is essential to the continued growth and success of both LLUH and the Department. The Department is proud to offer highly desirable, fully accredited residency and fellowship programs, two Centers of Excellence: our Center for Joint Replacement and our International Limb Lengthening Institute, as well as outstanding clinical care and various ongoing research in all subspecialties. It is important for the new Chair to possess a vision to ensure that the Department continues growth in rank and reputation.

The successful candidate will hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and will be an outstanding leader and skilled surgeon, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record of academic leadership. He/she must be a respected leader who is operationally savvy, highly knowledgeable of cutting edge orthopaedic surgical care, and a visionary leader in the new age of orthopaedic science. The Chair is responsible for the overall administrative, academic, and clinical outcomes and will provide strategic leadership for all components of the Department while ensuring the highest standard of excellence in the care and safety of all patients.

The candidate must meet requirements for appointment as Associate or Full Professor. We offer competitive salary commensurate with academic rank and a comprehensive benefit package including:

  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Generous retirement contribution
  • Relocation assistance
  • Paid malpractice insurance
  • Continuing Medical Education support

This is not a J1 Opportunity.
