Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Transplant Institute, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is passionate about practicing in a collegial, friendly, faith based environment alongside transplant surgeons, nephrologists, hepatologists, and physician extenders.
This position involves duties in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Clinical responsibilities will include overseeing the discharge process for liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant adult and pediatric patients, including discharge teaching of patients, their family members, and caregivers. Other responsibilities include the management of transplant patients, living kidney donors, and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery patients that entails evaluation of candidacy for transplantation, ordering of appropriate pre-transplant evaluation labs and procedures, and post-transplant care such as wound care, immunosuppression management, infectious disease screening and treatment, and ongoing care of other medical comorbidities. Weekly meetings include liver, kidney, and pancreas selection committees and quality meetings. Other meetings may include liver tumor board and liver pathology conference.
We have a robust abdominal solid organ transplant program— in 2018, we performed 81 liver transplants, 10 pancreas transplants, and 189 adult and pediatric kidney transplants.
