| Community Overview |
| Montgomery County comprises one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. At one time, the economy was driven by farming, timber and oil, as Conroe was the third greatest oil center in the United States. The county, aat all ends, including north, south, east and west, has experienced trmendous growth spurts throughout the years.
Conroe has enjoyed much growth and prosperity since its humble beginnings in 1870. Recently, the courthouse and surrounding square have undergone a planned revitalization which has brought many new businesses to the downtown area, and now features the new Downtown Outdoor Amphitheater and Pavilion, host of such venues as varous Texas music performers and the Conroe Symphony.
Montgomery County offers abundant opportunities to live life to the fullest. Visitors and residents find a modern, growing community that has it all - quiet neighborhoods with a delightful mix of metropolitan, suburban, and rural lifestyles; quality schools for elementary, secondary, higher, and vocational education; excellent municipal services; abundant recreational and cultural activities for adults and children; and vast employment opportunities. |
