 Job Description

Carilion Clinic is seeking an ABMS-Board Certified/Board Eligible Diagnostic Radiologist to join the Radiology Department in their existing radiology section located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. General radiology practice with Body Imaging Fellowship preferred but all qualified candidates will be considered. Located in the Christiansburg/Blacksburg region of southwest Virginia with a population of 185,000, the area is home to Virginia Tech and Radford Universities and boasts a stable base of business and industry. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains along Virginia's Technology Corridor, the region is affordable, safe, progressive, and strategically located on the Interstate-81 corridor, just 30 minutes from the Appalachian Trail. The New River Valley area offers an unparalleled combination of city convenience, beautiful scenery, and an active outdoor environment. With a lively arts community and an abundance of cultural activities, there's plenty to do inside as well as outside.

Aspects of the practice include all modalities except angiography. Equipment includes:

  • MR - 1.5T Siemens Avanto with cardiac, and 3T Siemens just installed
  • CT - 16-slice Phillips with CT fluoro and new 64-slice Siemens with cardiac package, also 16-slice Siemens
  • U/S - 3 ATL/Phillips 5000 units with harmonics, Doppler and color
  • 3 mammo units with Fischer prone stereo biopsy table
  • 2 fluoro units, 4 Xray rooms
  • Nuclear Medicine - noncardiac only, 2 SMV/GE cameras with new software in the last year
  • PET-CT - Siemens mobile unit, twice per week
  • Agfa PACS, Powerscribe voice recognition with transcriptionist for correcting
  • EPIC electronic medical record

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • ABMS-BC/BE in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology, Fellowship in Body Imaging preferred but all candidates will be considered
  • If board eligible, must have plan in place to sit for Boards
  • Active and unencumbered medical license with eligibility for licensure in Virginia
  • Competent in all aspects of diagnostic radiology
  • Team player
  • Articulate communicator
