Carilion Clinic is seeking additional Pulmonary/ Critical Care physicians for its growing department of Pulmonary/Critical Care/Environmental and Sleep Medicine. This is a clinical/academic position with responsibilities to cover ICU as well as inpatient and outpatient pulmonary services, all in a single campus. Roanoke Memorial Hospital is a tertiary referral center where you will have a varied array of interesting pathology. The department is heavily involved in teaching, and all our physicians have appointments through the new VTC Medical School. A newly accredited pulmonary fellowship is also part of the section, and we are currently also planning on seeking Critical Care Medicine accreditation by the ACGME. The faculty is composed of 11 individuals, and we cover all areas of pulmonary medicine, including Interventional Pulmonology. Additionally, we have a long standing tradition in the area of bedside ultrasonography, with Carilion Clinic being recognized as a national leader in this field. Those interested in practicing Sleep Medicine will also find plenty of opportunities in this area.
Sophisticated resources include state-of -the-art ICU equipment, new bronchoscopic equipment ( including EBUS and rigid bronchoscopy), and an over 800 + acute-care bed hospital, the second largest hospital in Virginia. Additionally, we have an advanced EMR for outpatient connectivity and communication to other Carilion practices. A brand new clinic building allows for an excellent outpatient work environment.
The incoming physician will be part of a large collegial group. Weekly educational conferences and interaction with other specialties allow us to deliver top notch care to all of our patients. You will have an excellent work atmosphere, and at the same time will maintain a good quality of life, with plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful community. Salary is highly competitive and commensurate to many private practice opportunities, making this an excellent opportunity for those that also enjoy teaching.
