Southern Maine Healthcare is seeking a FT emergency medicine physician for their Sanford campus.  Candidate must be ABEM or ABOEM Eligible or Certified.

Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford and Goodall Hospital in Sanford merged in January of 2014.  The new entity, Southern Maine Health Care, is the York County member of MaineHealth, one of the nation’s top 100 healthcare systems.  The two hospitals came together to ensure high quality care and excellent patient experiences, increase efficiencies that will help control the rising cost of health care, and improve the health status of people within the communities they serve.

Southern Maine Healthcare - Sanford’s emergency department has approximately 22,000 annual visits. The emergency department team, including nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and physicians, work together to provide the best possible medical care.  As evidenced by their recent expansion, the Sanford campus continues to improve and upgrade their capabilities to keep pace with the needs of their patients.  The emergency department has 24 hrs/day physician coverage and 12 hrs/day of midlevel coverage.

Recent expansion includes a new 25,000 square foot Medical Office Building next to the Hospital and a renovation/expansion of the Emergency Department. Major investments in technology include York County’s first Digital Mammography; PACS Digital Picture Archiving System for Radiology; Electronic Medical Records, and the Pyxis Electronic Prescription Delivery System.

Candidates will also have an opportunity to work in the emergency department at Southern Maine Healthcare’s Biddeford location.
