 Job Description

DERMATOLOGIST

Maine Medical Partners is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible General Dermatologist to establish their new Dermatology practice in Portland, Maine.

This is a FT outpatient opportunity, with a large built-in referral base of primary care and specialty care providers, and an exceptional opportunity for candidates to help develop and build our new practice.  Maine Medical Partners, an organization within Maine Medical Center, cares for a population of primary care patients totaling over 75,000 people.  In addition to these patients, our specialty practices reach patients throughout Maine and into parts of New Hampshire.  We have identified Dermatology to be the single largest referral need in our practice group, and we are prepared to create a high quality Dermatology practice enterprise to meet the needs of our patients.

Candidates will be supported by an APP as well as excellent office staff, and will play an integral role in hiring additional physicians and staff as the practice grows.  The selected candidate will play a key role in modeling and delivering a full range of services to patients in the greater Portland area.

Maine Medical Partners is Maine's largest multi-specialty medical group serving the healthcare needs of patients locally and throughout northern New England.  This high quality team of more than 500 physicians provides a wide range of hospital-based, primary, specialty and sub-specialty care delivered through a network of more than 30 locations in the greater Portland area.

Maine Medical Center (MMC) has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of Residencies and Fellowships and an integral part of Tufts University Medical School.  MMC currently supports over 240 residents and fellows in 14 residencies and 9 fellowships approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.  The selected candidate will have the opportunity to teach Maine Medical Center’s Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pediatric Residents.

Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.  The area provides four season recreational opportunities, such as skiing, hiking, sailing, and miles of beautiful beaches.  Just two hours north of Boston, this is an exceptionally diverse and vibrant community.  Portland is consistently voted one of the top spots in America to raise a family and was named America’s most livable city by Forbes Magazine in 2009.
