 Job Description

In Tyler, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a Full-Time Child Psychiatrist to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders for children

Job Overview:

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and follow up visits to children
  • Prescribe, direct, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders
  • Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals
  • Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments
  • Writes and maintains progress notes and documents psychiatric visits as outlined in policy
  • Examines or conducts laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical condition or mental disorder
  • Collaborate with psychotherapists, physicians, psychologists, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress as an integral part of the clinical team
  • Makes appropriate referrals for clients (within or outside of agency)
  • Participates in weekly interdisciplinary staff meetings when available
  • Maintains monthly statistics and abides by agency’s Policies and Procedures manual and Mental Health department Policies and Procedures

 Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine (MD) or (DO)
  • Current active and unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board to practice as a physician in the State of Texas
  • Board certification in Psychiatry
  • 3 years post-graduate training experience preferred
  • Must have current DEA and Board certified in Psychiatry and other such certificates to legally operate as practitioner in the State of Texas
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification

Bilingual (English and Spanish) Preferred

Activities include picnicking; camping; boating (motors allowed - 5 mph speed limit); boat rentals; fishing; birding; hiking; mountain biking and hiking trails; lake swimming (in unsupervised swimming area); and nature study. The Smith County Historical Society operates a museum and archives in the old Carnegie Library. The East Texas State Fair is held annually in Tyler. Tyler also has a Cotton Belt Railroad Depot Museum located near the Chamber of Commerce office.
