Carilion Clinic is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to support the continued growth of cardiology services at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, a 146-bed acute care facility located in Christiansburg, Virginia. Join a team of 4 experienced cardiologists, 1 interventional cardiologist and 3 advanced care practitioners. CRNV has just been approved to add a second cardiac catheterization laboratory. Diagnostic catheterizations (650 annually) and PCIs (250 annually) are performed and there is a substantial growth opportunity for additional expansion. The successful applicant will partner with the current Interventional Cardiologist to expand to a 24/7 STEMI program. STEMI efforts are part of an existing statewide coalition to improve STEMI care, coordinated via regional collaboration with EMS and utilizing a central communication center. Options exist to participate in activities of the Interventional Cardiology team at nearby Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 703-bed level 1 Trauma Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Intermittent, limited coverage at CRMH would be expected. CT surgery is performed at CRMH; a Helipad with one of 3 Carilion air ambulance helicopters is located adjacent to the hospital. High risk patients needing surgical backup will be transferred to CRMH. Services at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center include: stress testing, echocardiography (TEE and TTE), nuclear studies, cardioversions, tilt table testing, Holter and event monitoring, pacemaker (temporary and permanent), and ICD implantation. CNRV has a 64-slice CT and 3T MRI unit for advanced cardiac imaging. Vascular ultrasound and vascular surgery services are available on site. Required qualifications include Board certification in Cardiology and Fellowship Training in Interventional Cardiology with Board Certification or Eligibility. Newly trained fellows are encouraged to apply, but experience is preferred. This position does not include structural work.
