We are seeking a board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalist physician who would be dedicated to providing world-class care to join our practice, located in Evansville, Indiana.
St. Mary’s Medical Center, a member of Ascension Health, is a faith-based health ministry serving communities in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. With a medical staff of more than 650 physicians, St. Mary’s specializes in cardiac, surgical, orthopedic, rehabilitation, neurosciences, oncology/hematology, women’s and children’s and emergency and trauma services. For more than 130 years, St. Mary’s has been guided by its mission of serving all persons, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable.
St. Mary's Medical Center is a community hospital with a 23 bed pediatric floor, 7 bed PICU, and level 3 NICU. (PICU and NICU and covered by full time intensivists) We are also a level 2 pediatric trauma center and referral center for SW IN, KY and IL. The closest tertiary referral centers are 2+ hours away (Louisville, Indianapolis, Nashville), so we get quite a few transfers IN from the region and actually transfer OUT infrequently.
The job responsibilities include coverage of patients on the pediatric floor and newborn nursery. The hospitalist team covers about 1/2-3/4 of all patients admitted to the pediatric floor, and we co-manage surgery patients if requested. We have many but not all pediatric subspecialties available, but also have a close relationship with St. Vincent in Indianapolis for phone consults, transfers, etc.
We also teach 3rd year Indiana University med students, currently 4 students per year do their inpatient clerkship with us, but that may be increasing.
We offer:
- A warm and caring staff that includes a clinical nurse specialist, a certified genetic counselor, a Nurse practitioner, two Registered nurses, three US techs and a dedicated and tenured support staff
- The job comes with an Indiana University associate professor position (title plus multiple perks).
- Highly competitive base salary
- Generous front loaded paid time off
- Collaborative work environment with excellent patient and referring physician satisfaction
- Generous benefit package including comprehensive health insurance, life and disability insurance and a Retirement Savings Plan with employer match
- State-of-the-art NICU
