 Job Description

The Opportunity:  located directly on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, Pen Bay Medical Center seeks a full-time Medical Director of Hospice & Palliative Care.  This position will serve as the Medical Director and physician leader of Pen Bay's Hospice and Palliative Care team supported by a half-time Nurse Practitioner and a Palliative Care RN.  Working in cooperation with Pen Bay's home health agency, the team will provide patient care in homes, in the hospital, embedded within our primary care offices, and will provide care at Pen Bay's new Sussman Hospice House.  The Medical Director will have leadership responsibilities, direct patient care responsibilities, program development responsibilities, as well as opportunities to participate in a range of projects to advance palliative and end of life care in Mid-Coast Maine.

The Hospital:  Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) is a 99-bed, full-service community hospital located directly on beautiful Penobscot Bay in Rockport, Maine.  We offer inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, patient and community education, and a full range of specialty services through the Emergency Department, Special Care Unit, Surgical Services Department, full Hospitalist Service, and the Psychiatric Addiction & Recovery Center.
