 Job Description

In Corpus Christi, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking an experienced full-time Board Certified Family Medicine with/without OB or Internal Medicine Physician to provide direct medical care to patients in a warm and friendly community health care setting and serve as the Chief Medical Officer.

Job Overview:

  • Oversees other medical staff, to include other physicians and mid-levels
  • Assists in the recruitment, training, and retention of Clinicians; carries out disciplinary actions when necessary or as directed by Chief Executive Officer
  • Provides mentoring of new providers, to assist in acclimation to clinic requirements, protocols, agency policies, and enabling services
  • Reviews policies, procedures, and methods used in health center programs for effectiveness and consistency with service goals and standards; develops new strategies, services and programs based on community needs; develops goals and objectives to accomplish program goals; identifies potential problems and generates innovative and creative solutions
  • Monitor, at minimum ten medical charts, per provider, per quarter, to assure adherence to medical protocol and oversee Provider Peer Reviews
  • Will work closely with Director of Clinic Operations to assure that programs operate on the basis of sound administrative, fiscal and quality management principles within available financial resources
  • Identifies division-wide administrative, operational and service delivery problems; plans, develops, recommends, implements, and evaluate solutions
  • Provide direct medical care to patients of the heath center
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and the healthcare needs
  • Records physical findings and formulates prognosis, based on client's condition and documents in EMR
  • Establishes treatment plans, administers, furnishes, or recommends medications
  • Review medical records to assure clinical competency
  • Physician is available for after hour coordination of care
  • Provider is willing to be trained in the treatment and management of HIV/AIDS, Hep C, LGBT care a, hormone therapy, through the various professional resources available to the health center
  • Provider will work on Mobile Clinic as needed, providing care in the surrounding rural areas
  • Provider will agree to provide necessary Supervision of Mid-Level staff as directed and defined by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners
  • Provider will work with other Clinicians to meet or exceed the number of New Patient Encounters and Established Patient Encounters defined in FQHC Notice of Award
  • Provider is expected to obtain Hospital Privileges to at least one local Hospital System
 Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O) licensed to practice in Texas with no pending or previous disciplinary action from any state licensing entity.
  • 3 years of post-graduate training experience required. 
  • Experience in management of medical practitioners and oversight of midlevel providers.
  • Experience in development of clinical protocols and policies.
  • Preferred experience in HIV and Hep C treatment.
  • Preferred experience in working in a FQHC or similar health center.
  • Board certified in medical specialty.

Bilingual English and Spanish Preferred.

We are a community health center, serving the 12 counties of the Texas Coastal Bend. We were founded in 1986 as an AIDS Service Organization, however over the years the agency's mission was expanded to include an array of services:
