 Job Description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking a Medical Director for the Division of Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care.

The candidate will ideally have >5 years of clinical and leadership experience, board certification in pediatric critical care medicine and cardiology (if dual boarded) or additional CVICU training. The Director position will have an academic track appointment depending on qualifications in the Loma Linda University School of Medicine.

This cardiac intensive care program offers the unique opportunity to participate in the growth of the CTICU team, with a position entailing team building, process improvement, quality improvement, paralleling the growth of the Heart Center. Our critical care physicians care for patients including congenital heart surgery, ECMO, medical cardiac disease and cardiac transplantation which includes a ventricular assist device program. We are among the top 5 centers for heart transplantation in the nation, with a growing heart failure program along with a transitional adult congenital heart disease program.  This full-time position would entail clinical time primarily in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.

The Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, is a separate unit with 14 CVICU beds, supporting 200 surgeries along with interventional and medical cardiac admissions approximating 400-500 annually, with an anticipated growth toward 300-400 surgical cases annually over the next few years. The separate Pediatric Intensive Care Unit holds 25 beds, providing tertiary care to more than 1700-1800 admissions annually. Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital is a level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and provides 700 Critical Care Transports per year.

Candidates must be a licensed MD/DO and board certified in either Pediatric Critical Care Medicine with additional CVICU training and experience, or dual boarded in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology.

This opportunity is not eligible for a J1 Waiver.
