 Job Description

The Division of Pediatric Neurology at Loma Linda Medical Center (LLUMC) is seeking a fourth full-time Pediatric Epileptologist at the assistant or associate professor level who is BE/BC in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology as well as BE/BC in either Clinical Neurophysiology or Epilepsy.

The LLU Children's Hospital includes a 16 bed ER, 25 bed Pediatric ICU, 24 bed Intermediate Care Unit, 90 bed Neonatal ICU, and 140 additional beds in 5 pediatric units (for general and subspecialty patients). The Division of Child Neurology consists of 12 attending faculty members in neurology, epilepsy and developmental pediatrics. There are two full time pediatric epileptologists and one who will be joining our group in mid-2017.  There are 4 pediatric neuropsychologists, 1 epilepsy-dedicated pediatric nurse practitioner, 2 neurosurgeons highly experienced in epilepsy surgery, 4 adult epileptologists, 7 neuroradiologists, and 2 dieticians versed in the ketogenic diet.  This team meets every week for Epilepsy Surgery Conference.  Our surgical team utilizes a combination of grids, strips, depth electrodes, stereotactic EEG with the ROSA® robotic surgery device.  We have a 4 bed pediatric EMU and a Complex Epilepsy Team center with dedicated nursing, dietician, and social work personnel. The Neurophysiology laboratory performs over 1000 inpatient pediatric and neonatal routine and video EEGs and over 700 outpatient pediatric EEG studies.  We also provide remote EEG interpretation services to local hospitals.

Responsibilities include interpretation of inpatient and outpatient EEGs and EP studies, as well as patient care, including evaluation of patients with complex epilepsy for VNS implantation, ketogenic diets, and epilepsy surgery. Shared responsibilities with the neurology group include resident teaching and limited general neurology inpatient attending service. Expertise in clinical care and teaching are particularly valued.
