 Job Description

Maine Medical Partners Neurology has an immediate full-time opening for a board certified/eligible, adult neurologist with fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis, to join our Multiple Sclerosis Center at Maine Medical Partners Neurology in Scarborough, ME. Reasonable call, with hospital duties at Maine Medical Center primarily covered by our Neurohospitalist program. 

Our center is recognized by the National MS Society as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care and is the only Center with this recognition in Maine. The Center consists of 2 MS specialists, 1 nurse practitioner, 2 specialty nurses and a medical assistant. We focus on providing patients with respectful, attentive care whether their diagnosis is multiple sclerosis, optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, neuromyelitis optica or any other autoimmune, inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system. In addition, we collaborate closely with the Maine Medical Center outpatient infusion center and with the New England Rehabilitation Hospital to provide comprehensive care to our patients.  We also work with the Maine Medical Center Research institute to assist with initiating and conducting research trials.  There is an on-site 1.5 T MRI, but other sites are available for imaging needs including a 3 T MRI at Maine Medical Center.

The Neurology Division consists of 19 physicians, including 5 Pediatric Neurologists, 8 nurse practitioners, and an on-site neurodiagnostic lab. The Neurology group is the premiere site for neurology care in Maine since 1988.  The practice works closely with our Neuroscience Institute to further develop Neuroscience Centers of Excellence in supporting initiatives of our stroke, epilepsy and MS programs. 

Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships, and integration with Tufts University Medical School.   Candidates will have the opportunity to teach residents and medical students.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group.  MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high quality team of more than 500 physicians and 200 advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 30 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
