 Job Description

Loma Linda Rheumatology Department is looking for a nurse practitioner to aid with a newly implemented fracture liaison service. This opportunity includes being in on the ground floor of an exciting multidisciplinary led program aimed at reducing osteoporotic fractures. In addition to the rheumatology department, the candidate will work peripherally with endocrinologists, internal medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons. This opportunity allows for seeing patients both in an acute care/inpatient setting during the peri-operative period in addition to outpatient follow up aimed at patient and family education as well as pharmacological intervention recommendation and monitoring.  

Specific job duties: 

  • Regular work hours are Monday through Friday with no call. 
  • Must be certified, etc. 
  • Provide consultative care of inpatients with osteoporotic fractures and give recommendations for medical follow up. 
  • See patients post fracture for further counseling on medications and fracture prevention. 
  • Communicate with practitioners in other specialties regarding mineral bone disease when appropriate. 
  • Attend a monthly morning conference from 7am to 8am with other members of the fracture liaison service. 
  • Will have the opportunity to grow an interest in quality improvement and outcomes research.
