 Job Description

Loma Linda University (LLU) Faculty Medical Group, Division of Pediatric Critical Care, is seeking a pediatric cardiac intensivist to join their team.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated physician who is BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and with either Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care training or BC/BE in Pediatric Cardiology, or have at least 5 years of experience in a large pediatric cardiac critical care unit. The faculty will be hired as an Assistant or Associate Professor at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine as appropriate for their academic and clinical experience.

LLU Children’s Hospital serves a geographical area of 1.2 million children in Southern California. The Pediatric Critical Care service includes a 25 bed medical/surgical PICU, a 14-bed pediatric cardiac/solid organ transplant intensive care unit and a separate 19- bed step-down unit. The PICU has approximately 1800 admissions per year and the CTICU admits over 400 patients annually. Our services include an active pediatric critical care transport team performing about 800 transports annually of which 80% come to the intensive care units.

The critical care division includes a multi-disciplinary team including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, child life specialists, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, chaplains, and other clinicians who collaborate to best meet the medical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the hospitalized child. All medical and surgical subspecialties are available to the team.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility will be providing direct patient care to pediatric cardiac patients in the CTICU while leading the medical team under the direction of the CTICU Medical Director, and the Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care. This will be in collaboration with the cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Faculty will serve as educators of fellows in Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric residents. Academic pursuits in quality improvement, research, and/or education are expected of faculty, consistent with their strengths and interests. This additional faculty position is aimed at separating coverage of the CTICU from the PICU, which is nearly complete. Further details about benefits and LLU can be found on the next page.
