Evansville is Indiana's third-largest city. It is a friendly place in Southwest Indiana, along the Ohio River. Evansville is the metrohub where southwest Indiana meets southeast Illinois and northwest Kentucky. Evansville was established on 200 acres of land that Hugh McGary, Jr. purchased from the government in 1812. The town was named for General Robert M. Evans. Evans was an attorney and territorial legislator who helped McGary incorporate Evansville as a city. The town's incorporation was completed on January 27, 1847. Since that time, Evansville has served as the economic and social center for the region (southwest Indiana, southeast Illinois, and northwest Kentucky).

St. Vincent - Evansville is a 390-bed level II trauma center providing general medical, cardiac, surgical, diagnostic, rehabilitation, senior, mental health, oncology, and emergency and trauma services, in addition to a separate but attached Hospital for Women and Children. Partnering with a medical staff of more than 650 physicians, St. Vincent Evansville is a Magnet facility. The mission of St. Vincent  over its 140 year history is to serve all persons, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. St. Vincent Medical Group is a physician-led, multi-specialty medical group made up of over 250 physicians. We serve the Southern region of Indiana and are members of Ascension Health.
