Maine Medical Partners Neurology has an immediate full-time opening for a board certified/eligible Pediatric Neurologist to practice pediatric neurology in the greater Portland, Maine area due to increasing growth in the practice.

Fellowship training/special interest is welcome, but is not required.

The Pediatric Neurology Division consists of 4 Pediatric Neurologists, including one pediatric epileptologist and one neonatal neurologist, as well as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  There is an inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit, an outpatient neurodiagnostic lab and an on-site MRI. The Neurology group is the only site for pediatric neurology care in Maine.  A range of multi-disciplinary specialty clinics are offered including Muscular Dystrophy, Spina bifida, Cerebral Palsy and Neonatal Neurology.  The practice works closely with our Neuroscience Institute and with the Maine Medical Center Research Institute for those interested in pursuing research.  Teaching responsibilities include education of Tufts medical students and Pediatrics and Child Psychiatry residents.  As a consequence, the position also includes faculty appointment at Tufts University Medical Center.

Primary inpatient responsibilities are at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, which is a part of Maine Medical Center, the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center.  Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds, while the Children’s Hospital has 109 beds with 51 level III/II NICU beds and nearly 3000 deliveries each year.  There is a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a full complement of other pediatric subspecialties.  Pediatric neurology call coverage is shared amongst the pediatric neurologists in the group.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group.  MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high quality team of more than 400 physicians and 150 advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 30 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
