Carilion Clinic seeks to add dynamic and visionary leadership to the Section of Pediatric Surgery at the Carilion Clinic. This position includes the opportunity to develop the Section of Pediatric Surgery, pediatric hospital, and support the Department of Surgery missions of medical education, research, and patient-centered care, and the Department of Pediatrics and its broad subspecialty support.
Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital, a "hospital within a hospital" at 825-bed Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH), our pediatric facility includes an 8-bed PICU covered by dedicated pediatric intensivists, a 24-bed inpatient unit, and a 60-bed NICU/intermediate unit. CRMH is also State-designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center for 1.5 million people throughout southwest Virginia, and provides air and ground transport services, including a pediatric critical care transport team. Enjoy working with the support of hospital-based pediatric subspecialists, which include cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, neonatology, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, and developmental pediatrics.
Carilion has embarked upon a bold initiative to transform a traditional healthcare system into an integrated academic clinic model, and is excited to assertively expand its commitment to medical education with the development of multiple new fellowships, the establishment of a research institute in collaboration with Virginia Tech, and a new school of medicine - Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine - opening Fall 2010.
Minimum Requirements:
ABMS-BC and fellowship trained in Pediatric Surgery
Active and unencumbered medical license
5 years leadership experience in an academic setting
