 Job Description

In Cooper, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a Full-Time Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant who is responsible for delivery of quality medical care to the patients of the Center and functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team within the scope of his or her medical practice. 

Job Overview:

  • Provide direct clinical services and management of patients as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the nurse practitioner. 
  • Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations. Document findings, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings. 
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patient, family and staff
  • Perform approved therapeutic procedures based upon patient's clinical status

Qualifications:

  • An unrestricted License to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority in the State of Texas
  • 3 years of post-graduate training experience required
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited instititution. 
  • Proficiency in Computer Skills and Electronic Health Records

Bilingual (Spanish & English) Preferred

Community Overview

Cooper, TX is a small town in the northeast greenbelt section of Texas located on the eastern edge of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, the 4th largest metropolitan area in the nation. Cooper (pop. approx. 2,000) is the county seat of Delta County and sits at the junction of state highways 24 and 154, twenty-four miles southwest of Paris, TX (pop. 25,171). Local Recreation: Cooper Lake State Park has something for everyone. The Park consisting of 3,026 acres is situated 3 miles south of downtown Cooper and it offers a 19,300-acre lake and two state park units. Cooper Lake Wildlife Management Area, 14,480 acres adjacent to Cooper Lake, offers recreational activities including hiking, hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing. Doctors Creek Park Unit, located on the north side of Cooper Lake approximately 4 miles from Historic Cooper Square, offers camping, fishing, picnicking, boating, unsupervised swimming, hiking, bird watching, nature study, nature programs, and tours. Park Facilities: 466 acres with 6.2 miles of shoreline. Four lane boat ramp, fish cleaning table, swimming beach, picnic pavilion, playground, 2 day-use areas, 50 picnic sites, 42 multi-use campsites with water and electricity, 5 screened shelters, 2 premium shelters, hiking trail, trailer dump station, 2 comfort stations, and 1 restroom with showers. South Sulphur Unit, located on the south side of Cooper Lake, offers 14 fully furnished lakeside cabins, 21 screened shelters, 89 water and electric campsites, 20 equestrian campsites and a 10.5 mile equestrian trail. The park also has fishing piers, two boat ramps and a large group pavilion.
