The Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA, has an opening for a full-time child and adolescent psychiatrist who is ABPN BE/BC in child and adolescent psychiatry and is able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia. This faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the newly-established Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is associated with Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 700+ bed teaching/tertiary referral center with a 12-bed child and adolescent inpatient unit. Responsibilities include direct outpatient and inpatient clinical services, teaching medical students, and supervising residents in general psychiatry and fellows in child psychiatry. The general psychiatry program consists of 32 residents and the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship has 4 positions. Call coverage is shared with 5 child psychiatrists.
Over the last 6 years, Carilion has converted its traditional healthcare system into a physician-run clinic model similar to other non-university academic centers, with an emphasis on research and subspecialty training. We are seeking physicians who want to join our nearly 600 physician multi-specialty Clinic through consistency in care and service, relentless pursuit of clinical improvement, rigorous, quantitative and systematic self-evaluation in an exciting and professionally gratifying and supportive work environment with physicians committed to leadership and the reform of healthcare delivery. It is preferred that the candidate has a minimum of 3 years post-residency experience and an interest in clinica, educational, or health services research in order to integrate such activity with the clinical practice. The position includes a competitive base salary that is augmented with a substantial bonus for quality. There is additional compensation for meeting productivity targets and a comprehensive benefits package including relocation allowance.
