Income Details:

Salary negotiable, based on experience.

Incentive Pay: Productivity incentive up to $9,600 per year
Student Loan Forgiveness:

NHSC/State LR

Relocation Paid: Up to $7,500 if from out of state; up to $5,000 w/in Texas
Vacation: 20 days vacation first year/10 holidays
CME: 5 days, with $2,500 allowance

 Job Description

In San Juan, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Family Medicine Physician or Internal Medicine Physician.

Overview:

  • Provide preventative and primary medical care for patients at a federally qualified community health center
  • Treat patients from a diversity of social and ethnic backgrounds
  • Work creatively as a member of a health oriented team composed of health professions from a variety of disciplines for the healing and betterment of the center's patients
  • Physician will supervise midlevel providers as appropriate and participate in organizational performance improvement program

Qualifications: 

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of approved post-graduate training/residency
  • Board certified or Board eligible (with intent to certify) in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registrations for the purpose of writing prescriptions, and current CPR Certification
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred

San Juan is part of the McAllen metropolitan area, which encompasses the cities of McAllen, San Juan, Pharr, and Edinburg. McAllen is the twentieth most populous city in Texas as well as largest city in Hidalgo County. Today the area is one of the fastest growing in the United States.

Recreation: Just an hour and fifteen minutes' drive east is beautiful Port Isabel, Texas, which has miles of beautiful beach for you to enjoy. Nearby Mission, TX is home to North American Butterfly Association (NABA) International Butterfly Park. Also close by is the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, a lush preserve along the banks of the Rio Grande with over six hundred acres set aside to preserve native flora and fauna.

The average high in the McAllen/San Juan/Edinburg area in January is 70 °F and the average low is 50 °F. The average high is 96 °F and the average low is 76 °F in August. The warm season is extremely long and winters here are very mild.

McAllen-Miller International Airport is the Rio Grande Valley's busiest airport and is served by American Airlines with non-stop service to Dallas/Ft. Worth, United with non-stop service to Houston and Allegiant Airlines with non-stop flights to Las Vegas and Orlando-Sanford.
