 Job Description

In Crystal City, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Family Medicine Physician to provide preventative and primary medical care for patients in a community health setting. Staff Physician must be able to treat patients from a diversity of social and ethnic backgrounds and to work creatively as a member of a health oriented team composed of health professions from a variety of disciplines for the healing and betterment of the center's patients.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited US or foreign School of Medicine with appropriate successfully completed examinations and at least a completed residency in Family Medicine from an accredited teaching hospital or academic medical center in the US and an unrestricted Texas Medical license required, as well as current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registrations for the purpose of writing prescriptions and current Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare providers. Fluent in Spanish a plus. Excellent benefits package available including Health, Life, and Optical insurance; Retirement; generous PTO; and FTCA malpractice coverage.

This facility serves the low income and uninsured families of Dimmit, La Salle, Uvalde, and Zavala counties in South Texas. This service area has been designated as a MUA/HPSA/MUP. The center is accredited by the Joint Commission. The clinic has established and maintained a positive working relationship with the local hospitals and also developed an excellent referral system with all the specialty and subspecialty physicians in the area.

Community Overview

Nestled in the lush and verdant valley and known as the "Winter Garden," Crystal City, TX was originally settled by farmers and ranchers and to this day remains an agricultural center for the region. The city has a population of approximately 7,200 (2010). Ours is a small community, but we are located within easy reach of metropolitan entertainments. San Antonio, the seventh largest city in the United States, is just 2 hrs. easy drive northeast -perfect for a day trip or a weekend of big city fun!

Uvalde (pop. 16,000) is 39 miles to the north, and hosts the majority of the area's local entertainment venues and retail stores. Camp Wood is near the headwaters of the crystal clear Nueces River at the western edge of Texas Hill Country. Visitors can enjoy nearby Camp Wood Golf Courses and/or Museums, including the John Nance Garner Museum, Alamo Village and Uvalde Memorial Park Golf Course.
