  •  Job Description
    Carilion Clinic is seeking an additional ABMS-BC and fellowship trained Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our busy and well-established 4-person group located in Roanoke, VA. Procedures performed at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, our 825-bed flagship teaching/tertiary referral center with Virginia state-designated Level 1 Trauma serving over 1 million people throughout western Virginia.

    For more than 25 years, cardiac surgery in southwest Virginia has been led by the surgical team of Carilion Clinic's Cardiothoracic Surgery. The practice is located in a modern, large office facility on the hospital campus and offers state-of-the-art surgical expertise, such as the da Vinci Robotic System for cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. The practice is also the first in the region to offer the newest surgical procedure for Atrial Fib. The practice includes approximately 50% cardiac and 50% thoracic. The group has cared for the residents of southwest Virginia since 1982 and work closely with referring physicians to ensure exceptional and personalized care. With over 20,000 heart and lung operations and an established team of physician assistants and perfusionists all supported by the hospital support team, Carilion Cardiothoracic Surgery is finding betters ways in cardiac excellence for patients.

    Carilion Clinic, headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, is a physician-led, multi-speciality healthcare organization of over 600 physicians, 8 not-for-profit hospitals, 80+ practice locations, and 15 GME programs. We have embarked upon a bold initiative to transform a traditional healthcare system into an integrated academic clinic model, and are excited to assertively expand our commitment to medical education with the development of multiple new residencies and fellowships, the establishment of a research institute in collaboration with Virginia Tech, and a new school of medicine - Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTC), welcoming its inaugural class August 2010.
