In Beeville, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time OBGYN or Family Medicine with OB Physician. New Grads welcome to apply!

Job Overview:

  • Functions as a team member of a multi-function disciplinary health care team
  • Responsible for provisions of comprehensive primary and preventive care including OB responsibilities which includes obstetric care, prenatal care, deliveries, post-partum care and OB related surgery
  • Provide services for forty (40) hours per week
  • Expected to produce the equivalent of 4,200 medical encounters per year, proportionately prorated (reduced) if physician is working less than 40 hours a week
  • Cover for other physicians and treat the patients of those other physicians even when those patients are not enrolled in the health center as required for retention of hospital privileges
  • Follow and abide by the ethics of the medical profession and all federal, state and local laws and ordinances applicable to practice
  • Provide supervision of mid-level providers
  • Physician and Health Center Manager will develop a schedule of days that the Physician will be on site to provide patient care and supervision of mid-levels as appropriate

Community Overview

Beeville is a city in Bee County, Texas, United States, with an estimated population of 13,290 in 2013. It is the county seat of Bee County and home to the main campus of Coastal Bend College. The city's terrain ranges from flat to gently rolling slopes, set in the South Texas Brush Country.

It is between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Travel time to Corpus Christi is approximately one hour by car, and travel time to San Antonio is approximately 1½ hours by car. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.1 square miles (16 km2), all of it land.

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The temperature is influenced by the warm waters of the nearby Gulf of Mexico. Prevailing southerly winds of 8 to 10 miles per hour come off the Gulf. Annual rainfall is about 30 inches, fairly evenly distributed throughout the year.

At the 2000 census, there were 13,129 people, 4,697 households and 3,287 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,149.7 per square mile (829.6/km²). There were 5,539 housing units at an average density of 906.9 per square mile (350.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 72.08% White, 2.87% African American, 0.59% Native American, 0.69% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 20.63% from other races, and 3.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 67.67% of the population.

There were 4,697 households of which 39.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% were married couples living together, 19.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 26.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.30.

31.1% of the population were under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 89.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.5 males.

The median household income was $25,475 and the median family income was $27,794. Males had a median income of $26,761 and females $20,411. The per capita income was $11,027. About 26.5% of families and 30.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 40.8% of those under age 18 and 24.4% of those age 65 or over.

Beeville is served by the Beeville Independent School District, which has approximately 3,500 students in six schools.

A C Jones High School boasts newly  turfed football stadium and a brand new softball and baseball complex. Sports include golf, boys' and girls' basketball, baseball, softball, powerlifting, boys' and girls soccer', tennis, track, wrestling and cheerleading. The teams are the Trojans, and Lady Trojans, and their colors are orange and white. Other extra-curricular programs include the Dazzlers Dance Team, band, choir, theater arts.

The main campus of Coastal Bend College in Beeville opened in 1967 with 790 students. Today it has over 3,700 students, more than 1,200 of them full-time. Dormitories and apartments on campus provide affordable housing. The community college offers an associate degree in 26 different fields
