Carilion Clinic is searching for a Pediatric Hospitalist to join the existing team of four physicians and 2 PNP's at Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia which is part of Carilion Roanoke Memorila Hospital, a 791 bed teaching/tertiary care center with Level 1 Trauma with the regions only intensive care unit for pediatric patients, the 8 bed PICU annually provides specialized medical and nursing care to more than 300 critically ill or injured infants and children. The 27 bed pediatric unit provides care for 1,200 patients annually and is the only dedicated unit for children and adolescents in the region. The team provides 16 hours per day coverage and 24 hour per day coverage 20-30% of the time depending on the resident coverage for the inpatient unit as well as ER consultations. Responsibilities also include teaching and the supervision of medical students and residents. Serving as a tertiary referral center for 1.5 million in southwest Virginia, the facility provides a full range of pediatric services, excluding open-heart surgery and ECMO. Hospital-based pediatric physicians include: The Roanoke Valley features a cohesive pediatric community with more than 20 pediatricians in private practice. In addition, pediatric specialists in private practice include; orthopedics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and anesthesiology. A five time "All America City", the Roanoke Valley is a metropolitan area of more than 300,000, located at the southern tip of the Shenandoah Valley, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
