POSITION ThedaCare, an integrated health system, located in Northeast Wisconsin, seeks a BC/BE Orthopedic Surgeon with total joint training. This newly created position will serve the Appleton area with shared outreach to the Shawano service area, a population of 60,000. One million people live within a 60-mile radius of the Fox Cities. This position will enjoy referrals from over 200 primary care providers within ThedaCare Physicians. |

The result of the work is Collaborative Care and a sweeping reinvention of the hospital nursing unit and patient room that create the Hospital of the Future and the value in health care our patients and our communities want. Since being introduced as a pilot, 14-bed unit at Appleton Medical Center in February 2007, Collaborative Care has: Reduced the cost of care by 28 percent, reduced lengths of stay by 21 percent, produced 100 percent compliance on nearly all quality measures, and improved top patient satisfaction scores to above 90 percent procedure rooms, and a cystoscopy room.

| Practice Description : | ThedaCare, Inc., a highly successful northeast Wisconsin integrated health system, seeks a BE/
BC, joint fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon for it's Appleton location. Call for both office and surgery
patients is 1:4, and emergency call is 1:11. The physician will provide total joint care to the region, while performing some general orthopedic procedures, arthroscopy, and fracture care. The orthopedic surgeon
will practice in Shawano one day per week. ThedaCare has developed a three-tier system - ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus that provides comprehensive, coordinated patient care. The first tier includes primary care providers, emergency room physicians, and athletic trainers. The next tier includes family practice/ sports medicine physicians, physiatrists, rheumatologists, and rehabilitation therapists. The final tier incorporates orthopedic surgeons. ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus primary location is Appleton Medical Center with outreach to ThedaCare Physicians Shawano. The referral base is comprised of 200 primary care providers and athletic trainers that provide services to 9 universities and high schools. In a more comprehensive model, the patient will be referred to the appropriate level of care. This model has created a higher surgery ratio for the surgeons and results in greater satisfaction for both the surgeons and the patients. |
