An exceptional neurosurgery leadership opportunity. Carilion Clinic/Virginia Tech Carillon Neurosurgery (CC-VTC) is looking for a new Chief of Neurosurgery to lead a growing team of 9 Neurosurgeons, 7 residents, and 11 ACP's. CC-VTC Neurosurgery is a clinic-based, academic program with remarkable opportunities in teaching, research, and clinical neurosurgery. Based in the level one trauma center Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke Virginia, the program provides neurosurgical coverage to over 1 million people in a large, rural, multi-state area. Clinical pathology is exceptionally broad and our neurosurgeons perform procedures of all levels of complexity in all subspecialty domains. We run a highly successful resident training program that recently converted from AOA to ACGME accreditation. Education and research activities and opportunities abound through our intimate relationships with the Virginia Tech Carillon School of Medicine (VTCSOM), the Virginia Tech Carillon Research Institute (VTCRI), and the Virginia Tech School of Neuroscience (VTSoN), and Virginia Tech proper. VTCRI is in the process of a 90 million dollar expansion as a part of a larger Virginia Tech-Crilion Clinic Health Sciences and Technology initiative. We are actively involved in the education of medical students from two local medical schools, residents from multiple CC-VTC training programs, allied health science students, and Virginia Tech neuroscience undergraduate and graduate students. The CC-VTC system and the neurosurgery program stand on the brink of unprecedented expansion and opportunity through the burgeoning relationship with Virginia Tech. We are looking for a dynamic, growth-focused neurosurgery leader of excellent clinical experience, proven academic interest, and great vision and creativity. There are few positions in the country that can boast such wonderful potential.
Other requirements include:
Board Certification in Neurosurgery (subspecialty interest/training preferable)
At least 5-10 years of progressive neurosurgery leadership in an academic setting
Evidence of strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
Physician leadership experience with emphasis on team-building; development of integrated collaborative models of care, education, and research; and managing people and programs.
