EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Maine Medical Center is seeking an emergency medicine physician.

Maine Medical Center's Emergency Department is home to the only emergency medicine residency training program in northern New England. The department utilizes some of the most advanced technologic and therapeutic treatment modalities available in emergency medicine today, including bedside ultrasonography, light-speed CT scanning, digital radiography, and advanced airway management systems. The ED is staffed 24 hours a day by board-certified emergency medicine physicians. In addition, the full spectrum of sub-specialists, such as cardiologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedists and neonatologists, are available to assist in the care of patients. Emergency nurses are highly-trained in all areas of emergency care and maintain specialty certifications in the administration of advanced adult and pediatric life support as well as adult and pediatric trauma care.

Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds and is the state's leading tertiary care hospital and a Level 1 Trauma Center. The Emergency Department (ED) at Maine Medical Center (MMC) is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the needs of a high-volume, tertiary-care patient population. The ED is the busiest in Maine and serves approximately 65,000 patients per year from Maine and New Hampshire, as well as visitors from all over the world.

The position involves teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program, and the candidate would have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
