 Job Description

Palliative Care Physician: Virtual Care, in many places known as telehealth continues to grow in utilization and importance in the delivery of medical care. IUH Virtual Care Team in partnership with IUH Physicians is looking for a Fellowship trained, board-certified/board eligible palliative care physician or someone with at least three years of clinical experience in the field.

The IU Health Physicians Virtual Palliative Care practice seeks an individual who is a blend of Palliative Care Physician and entrepreneur, whose motive and experience enable the launch and ongoing development of this relatively nascent approach to palliative care and the patients the service line serves.  The selected individual will see patients virtually, providing palliative care for patients unable to leave their residences.  The selected candidate will care for an increasing patient base while growing the program, creating relationships with hospitals in more remote communities where Palliative Care services are rare, or non-existent.

The position will be part of a dynamic team of centralized virtual health clinicians and administrators providing care across multiple specialties including psychiatry, behavioral health, primary care and hospital care. IU Health is seeking a candidate that wants to be part of building a virtual palliative care program, delivering care, guiding the development of protocols and guidelines, sharing the work with hospitals, providers and patients. Innovative thinking and designing new pathways for care will be required.

The primary location will be in downtown Indianapolis. All patient care will be delivered virtually. The position will be a combination of administrative time (speaking with physicians, hospitals and clinics, guiding program development including protocols and guides) and clinical time. Growth opportunities will exist within leadership and program development as the program develops.

With a unique partnership with one of the nation’s leading medical schools, Indiana University School of Medicine, we are able to provide patient access to leading-edge medicine and treatment options. Our exceptional care and continued excellence has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the past 20 years.
