 Job Description

In Houston, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Bilingual (English and Spanish) School-Based Health Specialist (BHS) to provide services related to the delivery of mental health care to assigned students at the designated school location and will provide consultation services to the school staff to support the overall mental health goals of the student and school. This fully licensed psychotherapist will provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, adults and families.

Job Overview:

  • Provides individual and family therapy to adults, adolescents, and children experiencing biopsychosocial stressors
  • Provides consultation services to school staff regarding mental health issues of students
  • Conducts psychosocial assessments
  • Re-assess and completes new treatment plans as indicated
  • Conducts appropriate discharge of students
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule. Provide 8 hours of direct patient care
  • EHR: EPIC

 Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Texas licensure in profession required  (Psychologist, LMFT, LPC, LCSW) 
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the social or behavioral sciences required 
  • 2 years of experience required with strong emphasis on effective treatment for childhood disorders
  • Abides by respective licensing board Code of Ethics and maintains in good standing with credentialing board.
  • Experience in the medical field and or school setting working with mental health issues preferred, as well as with families, groups, and diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic settings

Bilingual in English & Spanish Required!

Practice Description :

This center was established in 1994 as a social service organization with an initial focus on early childhood development. In 2003, we expanded its services to include primary care by merging with another local clinic. Upon receiving FQHC status in December 2003,we began providing primary care. Over the next several years, we continued to expand its services. Today, we provide primary care, women’s health, dental care and behavioral health care services three health center locations.
