GENERAL NEUROLOGIST
Maine Medical Partners Neurology has a full-time opening for a board certified/eligible Neurologist to practice primarily outpatient general neurology in the greater Portland, Maine area due to increasing growth in the practice. Fellowship training/special interest in EMG, muscle disease, or headache would be welcome but is not required.
The Neurology Division consists of 17 physicians, including 4 Pediatric Neurologists, 6 nurse practitioners, on-site MRI and a neurodiagnostic lab. The Neurology group has been a premiere site for neurologic care in Maine since 1988. The practice works closely with the Neuroscience Institute to further develop the Neuroscience Centers of Excellence which supports the initiatives of our Stroke, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders and Multiple Sclerosis programs. The practice includes opportunities both to teach medical students and residents and to pursue research through the Maine Medical Center Research Institute.
Primary inpatient responsibilities are at Maine Medical Center, the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds, a full complement of residencies and fellowships, and is an integral part of Tufts University Medical School. There is a reasonable call schedule and inpatient call coverage is assisted by nurse practitioners.
Physicians are employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), which is a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and is Maine’s largest multi-specialty group. MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England. This high quality team of more than 380 physicians and 150 advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 30 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.
