| Client Overview |
|
Our center is a federally qualified health center serving the residents of Uvalde, Real, Edwards and Zavalla counties. We offer a wide range of medical and dental services with in-house ancillary support via two satellite health centers(1 in Leakey, TX and 1 in Camp Wood, TX). Each satellite has 1 physician assistant/nurse practitioner assigned with a full complement of support staff. In Nov 09 we opened a state-of-the-art dental complex with 10 operatories staffed with three dentists and one dental hygienist.
Since our inception, our organization has been governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of client representatives and community leaders committed to ensuring access to health care for all. Fifty-five percent of our current Board Members are Client Representatives who help ensure that we remain responsive to community needs. Our Board keeps the organization philosophically grounded and true to our purpose of providing health care services to those in greatest need and advocating for change to improve the lives of working poor families.

Ours is a growing community with friendly people, a strong work ethic, competitive wages, ready access to financial resources, specialized work force training programs, and an excellent quality of life. Our growth is partially due to location. Specifically, the town has easy access to U.S. Highways 90 and 83, as well as the state highways that pass through town, connecting it to major cities like San Antonio, Del Rio and Eagle Pass. Uvalde's prominent position as county seat has also been a reason for its growth.

| Practice
Description : |
The practice currently encompasses the Chief Dental Officer, two staff dentists, one hygienist, seven dental assistants, three front office staff and a site supervisor. The current location houses a modern dental facility which opened in 2009. The facility houses 10 dental operatories with four provider work stations, a consultation room, a basic laboratory as well as radiographic (intra-oral and pano) capabilities. The practice provides general dentistry to patients throughout the life cycles with an emphasis on coordination of care with our medical colleagues for improved outcomes of chronic diseases states. Patient education and preventive dental care are the cornerstones of all patient care. New technologies are constantly being evaluated and incorporated into the treatment of our patients with routine use of lasers for hard and soft tissue procedures, various levels of sedation and the eventual implementation of implant placement for prosthesis stability. Pediatric patients are routinely seen beginning at six months of age.
