 Job Description

In Austin, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a Full-Time Clinical Psychologist to assess and evaluate individual's problems through the use of case history, interviews and observations

Job Overview:

  •  Provide individual or group counseling services to assist individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment
  • Select, administer, and interpret psychological needs to assess intelligence, aptitudes, abilities, or interests
  • Consult with other professionals to discuss therapies, treatments, counseling resources, or techniques, and to share occupational information;
  • Conduct research to develop or improve diagnostic or therapeutic counseling techniques
  • Analyze data such as interview notes, test results, and reference manuals in order to identify symptoms, and to diagnose the nature of clients' problems
  • Monitors and coordiantes the delivery of health services for patients as related to behavioral health care, including linking with other treatment providers not only within the primary care setting but, with the patients' permission, outside it as well
  • Document the patients progress and diagnostic information in the treatment chart
  • Counsel individuals, groups, or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans
  • Works, where indicated, to effect behavioral changes in patients with, or at risk for, physical disorders and help them make healthier lifestyle choices 
  • Develop therapeutic and treatment plans based on clients interest, abilities and needs
  • Evaluate the results of counseling methods to determine the reliability and validity of treatments

 Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Texas
  • Must be Medicare billable
  • Board certified (or eligible) is preferred
  • Current CPR Certification required (ACLS preferred)
  • Must adhere to the Code of Ethical Conduct for Clinical Professionals

Community Overview

Longview (pop. >80,000) is the county seat of Gregg County. Gregg, Rusk, and Upshur Counties comprise the Longview Metropolitan Statistical Area, the largest MSA in the eastern part of Texas. The town is located on the U.S. Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 80 corridor that stretches 275 miles through a chain of towns between Shreveport-Bossier City (60 miles east in Louisiana) and Dallas-Fort Worth (125 miles west).

The town also has two major regional medical centers: Good Shepherd Medical Center and Longview Regional Medical Center with almost 500 beds between them. East Texas Regional Airport offers service to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport via American Eagle.
