Full time Nurse Practitioner opportunity available. Candidate must possess advanced knowledge and skills that qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. The NP serves as a member of our collaborative health care team, functioning under the direction of a supervising physician. As a physician extender, the NP obtains health histories, performs physical exams and initiates appropriate treatment for patients receiving interventional care for cardiac arrhythmias. May perform and interpret devices checks for patients with cardiac pacemakers or defibrillators. The NP uses effective verbal and written communication skills to prepare and document notes, admission and discharge summaries, and participate in medical team rounds. He/she serves as a resource in the promotion of optimal patient care, including participation in quality initiatives, clinical research projects, and staff and patient education.
Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and be licensed as a NP within the state of Virginia.
Must be eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
Must meet credentialing requirements and qualify for malpractice insurance and be accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier.
Acute care clinical experience is required; Cardiac or Electrophysiology background preferred.
Schedule flexibility is required to meet patient needs.
Basic Life Support certification is required. Advanced life Support certification is preferred.
