| As Medical Director, you would have the opportunity to work with Florida Hospital's Family Medicine Residency and our new Internal Medicine Residency (first class in 2009). In addition, you would have the opportunity to work in collaboration with the new University of Central Florida College of Medicine (first class in 2009) and the new East coast facility of the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. In March of 2008, Florida Hospital and the Burnham Institute for Medical Research announced the creation of the Florida Hospital-Burnham Clinical Research Institute (CRI). This collaboration will focus bench science and clinical research on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes and associated diseases. The possibilities for growth in this position in Orlando, Florida are excellent - both personally and professionally. The Medical Director would have involvement and direction in the following: [bullet] Responsible for clinical care and helping to develop and implement the strategic direction for the FHDI, which includes clinical practice, research, education, fitness and advocacy/community awareness on a national and international level. [bullet] Oversight of the clinical inpatient diabetes model and inpatient consultative practices. [bullet] Consulting with our Florida Hospital Internal Medicine and Family Practice Residency programs to include potential rotations or other services. [bullet] Development of the FHDI's involvement with University of Central Florida College of Medicine and other related educational components. [bullet] Supervision, development, and participation in clinical research including funding experience. [bullet] Support of the partnership between the Florida Hospital - Burnham Clinical Research Institute. Ideal Medical Director Attributes would include: [bullet] National recognition within the endocrinology medical community. [bullet] Board Certified in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism with 8-10 years of clinical experience. [bullet] Clinical research experience with peer review publishing. [bullet] Demonstrated competency with obtaining federal funding awards. [bullet] Dynamic energy and excellent communicator. [bullet] Experience with community speaking/grand rounds.
