Uvalde, TX is located approximately 75 miles to the West of San Antonio and 75 to the East of Del Rio, TX. It is situated right at the foot of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The population is approximately 18,000 and the city offers a wide array of restaurants, fishing, hunting and camping opportunities. The schools are small enough to provide each student a personal touch but large enough to offer a wide selection of academic and extra-curricular activities. Uvalde is also the home to Sol Ross State University and Southwest Texas Junior College. Known as the 'Winter Garden Area,' Uvalde has a very mild winter and a beautiful summer that allows our residents to experience the outdoors and everything it has to offer virtually 12 months a year!
Ours is a growing community with friendly people, a strong work ethic, competitive wages, ready access to financial resources, specialized work force training programs, and an excellent quality of life. Our growth is partially due to location. Specifically, the town has easy access to U.S. Highways 90 and 83, as well as the state highways that pass through town, connecting it to major cities like San Antonio, Del Rio and Eagle Pass. Uvalde's prominent position as county seat has also been a reason for its growth.
