Breckenridge, a thriving community of approximately 6,000 friendly people, is conveniently located in the heart of North Central Texas, at the intersection of US Highways 180 and 183, approximately 90 miles west the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, 55 miles east of Abilene, 90 miles south of Wichita Falls.



A healthy economy, great schools, and loads of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy are just some of the many reasons to move your family here. Breckenridge is an official Texas Main Street City, and still has its original red brick streets downtown. The Stephens County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic places. Ours is also a progressive community with a great quality of life as well as extensive educational and business opportunities. There are two Junior Colleges within 30 miles and three higher education colleges within 55 miles of Breckenridge. The city boasts its own airport (Stephens County Airport) with a 5000 foot runway and modern amenities. Just northwest of the city is Hubbard Creek Reservoir, and Possum Kingdom Lake is to the east in Palo Pinto County.
