Albany, Texas, oldest town on the Northwest Frontier, is located in Shackelford County just 35 miles northeast of Abilene at the junction of US Highways 180 and 283. As a Preserve America Community, Albany's Main Street is a cultural gem where restored buildings house shops, restaurants, and theaters while the old railroad depot serves as a Visitor Center, Chamber of Commerce and Fandangle Ticket Office. Albany and the surrounding countryside have been officially designated a movie-friendly location. Albany also boasts a nationally accredited art museum.



From clothing and accessories to camping and hunting gear, you'll find a wagon load of unique items to tickle your fancy here in Albany. There are many unique eateries here, too. Since we're small, Dairy Queen is our only "chain" restaurant, but we do like to eat well, and our culinarily gifted neighbors are very gracious in accommodating us.
