Community Profile Description

Nestled in the lush and verdant valley and known as the "Winter Garden," Crystal City, TX was originally settled by farmers and ranchers and to this day remains an agricultural center for the region. The city has a population of approximately 7,200 (2010). Ours is a small community, but we are located within easy reach of metropolitan entertainments. San Antonio, the seventh largest city in the United States, is just 2 hrs. easy drive northeast -perfect for a day trip or a weekend of big city fun!



Uvalde (pop. 16,000) is 39 miles to the north, and hosts the majority of the area's local entertainment venues and retail stores. Laredo (pop. 236,091) is 90 miles to the south, and Eagle Pass (pop. 50,000) is 44 miles to the west. The beautiful beaches of Corpus Christi and Padre Island are also just a short 2 hour drive away, as is Camp Wood, "one of the 15 most scenic spots in Texas" according to Texas Highways magazine. Camp Wood is near the headwaters of the crystal clear Nueces River at the western edge of Texas Hill Country. Visitors can enjoy nearby Camp Wood Golf Courses and/or Museums, including the John Nance Garner Museum, Alamo Village and Uvalde Memorial Park Golf Course.



Interested candidates should be comfortable with living in a rural community or be willing to commute daily (12-45 miles) from one of the larger nearby cities.
No traffic jams here -the nearest Wal-Mart Supercenter is 12 miles south. If you love being part of a small town community, then Crystal City is the perfect place for you!
