In La Grange, TX: Texas Association of Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Family Medicine Physician.

Job Overview:

  • Cultural competency with the Hispanic and African American Populations of the area is also preferred
     
  • Expected to see a minimum of 3 patients per hour
     
  • EMR knowledge or willingness to learn is a must
     
  • Participates in the analysis of community health problems and assists in the development of the community health care plan
     
  • Clinic uses NextGen EHR system

 Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of approved post-graduate training
  • Current unrestricted Texas Medical license
  • Must have current DEA registrations for the purpose of writing prescriptions
  • Experience preferred, but will consider new graduates

*Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required


 Client Overview

This facility is a not-for-profit organization committed to serving the people in need of health care services in Fayette and neighboring Lee County. Discounted fees for services are available for eligible clients. Private insurance, Medicaid and CHIP are gladly accepted. Many clients are eligible for basic services with assistance from grants. A sliding schedule of fees based on family size and documentation of income is available for services provided in the clinic.

Since becoming a Federally Qualified Health Center, this organization continues to work toward providing better care for all, expanding its role in preventative medicine to include behavioral health services onsite and a dental office at a separate site. In addition, this health center has local hospital and community support.

Hours are Monday-Friday 8 AM-5 PM with after-hours available Monday and Thursday until 7 PM, and 2 Saturdays 8 AM-12 PM.

Community Overview

La Grange, TX, the county seat of Fayette County, is a historic community located on the Colorado River 55 miles East of Austin and 90 miles West of Houston. This family-oriented community provides a vast selection of family and individual events and activities. Austin, Houston, and San Antonio are all within 1-2 hours' easy drive, and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast are just 3 hours away.

Year Established: 2009
History of group / practice:

Center opened in 2009 and received its FQHC designation in 2012. Now provides primary medical care services, behavioral services and dental services to more than 4,500 of the area's residents.

Philosophy of the group:

To provide quality and affordable health care to the people of Fayette County and the surrounding region.

Practice Description :

A nonprofit corporation registered with the Texas Secretary of State, formed in April 1, 2007 for the purposes of providing comprehensive health care services to the Medically Underserved Population (MUP) in the Fayette County area. This center was granted a 501(c)(3) exemption by the Internal Revenue Service on April 2008; operations began in in LaGrange in 2009. Our Center became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2012. Its dental opened in 2010 utilizing the support of Methodist Healthcare Ministries. Dental services was brought under scope in 2015. A satellite clinic was opened in Giddings, Lee County, Texas in 2015 thus expanding our ability to serve a large area of south central Texas. Behavioral care is provided in LaGrange and Giddings via collaboration with Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.
